Abstract: The article is dedicated to the contribution of Directive (EU) 2024/1385 of the European Parliament and of the Council of May 14, 2024, on combating violence against women and domestic violence to the protection of women’s rights. The transposition of Directive (EU) 2024/1385 will allow the introduction of a common understanding and a single model for combating violence against women and domestic violence. The adopted new European rules contain several challenges to the national legislations, which are examined in the article in the context of the issues of human rights protection and the prohibition of discrimination. The topic of violence against women and domestic violence has socio-cultural, ideological, political and legal aspects. This publication focuses on the challenges to national legal regulation arising from the adoption of Directive (EU) 2024/1385.
