Abstract: The article examines the potential of sociology of law and legal psychology for studying the effectiveness of law. Three main questions are raised: 1) the emergence and development of legal-sociological and legal-psychological knowledge as part of the formation of sociology and psychology as sciences of the Modern Age; 2) the nature of the sociology of law and legal psychology as an external view of law; 3) the contribution of the sociology of law and legal psychology to the development of interdisciplinary research.
