Abstract:
The analysis of the Draft Acts for amendment and supplement of the Protection against Domestic Violence Act (№ 48-254-01-70 and № 48-254-01-72) includes assessing the laws, legislative gaps and weaknesses and needs of amendments, policies and the provision of services and good practices, with a view to recommending measures aimed at eradicating gender-based violence against women and strengthening the implementation of the country’s international obligations on violence against women and women’s human rights. The analysis and recommendations were developed after an in-depth analysis of the situation in Republic of Bulgaria. The improvement of the preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence needs ensuring of fulfilment of all international and national standards in this area, as they are stipulated in the acts.
